Dying mother dolphin struggles to save baby in Mauritius lagoon
The baby dolphin rolled over on its side, floating on the surface. Its mother repeatedly nudged its head above the oily waves in a lagoon in Mauritius. Environmentalists are demanding an investigation into the deaths of dozens of dolphins following an oil spill.

HAL-developed Dhruv helicopter being used to clean Mauritius oil spill
HAL Dhruv is a utility helicopter designed and developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). A total of 228 Dhruv Helicopters have been produced by March 2017 including 216 for the Indian Armed Forces.

Special response team, 10000 Indian-made oil absorbent pads sent to Mauritius
The assistance, in response to a request by the Mauritius government, was sent on India Air Force's C17 Globemaster. The equipment includes Ocean Booms, River Booms, Disc Skimmers, Heli Skimmers, Power packs, Inflators, Blowers, Salvage barge and 10000 oil absorbent pads.

India sends 30 tonnes of equipment to Mauritius to help contain oil spill: MEA
A 10-member Indian Coast Guard (ICG) team specialising in containing oil spill has also been deployed to Mauritius, an MEA statement said. India has also sent Ayurvdeic medicines and a medical team as part of the assistance to help it in dealing with the coronavirus crisis. India's assistance is in line with its policy to extend humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to its neighbours in the Indian Ocean region, the MEA said.

Sea life around Mauritius dying as Japanese ship oil spill spreads
Mauritian volunteers fished dead eels from oily waters on Tuesday as they tried to clean up damage to the Indian Ocean island`s most pristine beaches. This happened after a Japanese bulk carrier leaked an estimated 1,000 tonnes of oil. The ship, MV Wakashio struck a coral reef on Mauritius` southeast coast on July 25, and began leaking oil last week, raising fears of a major ecological crisis.
