Arunachal Speaker seeks review of SC verdict on Speaker's power
Former Arunachal Pradesh assembly Speaker Nabam Rebia on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court seeking review of its verdict saying that it is "constitutionally impermissible" for the Speaker to decide on the plea for disqualification of lawmakers under the anti-defection law when a motion of no-confidence is pending against him.

Arunachal crisis: Governor Rajkhowa defends his actions in SC
Embattled Arunachal Pradesh Governor J P Rajkhowa today strongly defended his actions of advancing assembly session and fixing its agenda claiming that the Chief Minister and the Speaker were "hand-in-glove" and trying to remain in power despite losing majority, even as the Supreme Court observed that he cannot take away the House's discretion on the basis of "mere apprehension".

The ongoing political upheaval in Arunachal Pradesh has taken another twist with a two-judge bench of the Gauhati High Court comprising of Acting Chief Justice MR Pathak and Justice T Vaiphei rejecting the petition of two Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) Gabriel Denang Wangsu and Wanglam Sawin that challenged Speaker Nabam Rebia`s decision to accept their resignations.
