Nirbhaya's mother slams Ashok Gehlot for his rape law remarks: 'It shows...'

Ashok Gehlot had said that the cases of murder after rape have increased in the country following the law providing the death sentence for rape convicts came into force. The Rajasthan CM was referring to the Delhi gang rape incident in 2012, which was later called the 'Nirbhaya' incident.

The Delhi court on 31 December deferred the death sentence of the four convicts in the December 16, 2012 gang rape and murder case till further orders. Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana passed the order on the plea of the convicts to stop their execution on 1 February.

After the death warrant was issued from Patiala House Court in Delhi's Nirbhaya Gang Rape Case, the Supreme Court has completed the hearing on the curative petition filed by 2 convicts Vinay and Mukesh. Curative Petition filed by both has been rejected by SC. Now, the way has been cleared to hang Nirbhaya's culprits on 22 January. However, they still have the option of sending a mercy petition to the President.
