Chennai: The Income Tax officials on Friday conducted raids at Poes Garden, the residence of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa and properties of VK Sasikala’s relatives.
The Income Tax Department on Friday night recovered a laptop, a desktop and four pen drives from two rooms in Veda Nilayam, used by Sasikala at late Jayalalithaa's residence here.
While the raids were going on, Jaya TV CEO Vivek Jayaraman arrived at the Poes Garden.
Raids were conducted at Veda Nilayam, which is a sprawling bungalow located at the upscale Poes Garden area here where J Jayalalithaa stayed for over three decades.
The IT sleuths also searched the office of Jayalalithaa’s personal secretatry, PS Poongundran.
Heavy security was deployed outside Poes Garden to thwart any untoward incident.
While commenting on the raids, sidelined AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran supporter and former MLA, VP Kalairajan told media, "This is just political vendetta and targeting of one family".
The IT Department carried out massive search operations at the residences and premises of Sasikala`s kin and their business associates only days ago.
