Bengaluru riots:NIA arrests 17 SDPI members in connection with August violence
The SDFI is a political wing of the Popular Front of India. The investigation so far has revealed that a few SDPI leaders had conducted meetings at Thanissandra and KG Halli wards in Bengaluru in the evening of August 11. The investigation also revealed the use of social media channels like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp to spread terror among people.

Bengaluru riots: NIA conducts searches at 43 locations
The cases pertain to large scale rioting armed with lethal weapons causing injuries to police personnel, destruction of public and private property including DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations buildings and public and private vehicles. "The riot led to fear and panic in the nearby areas and was intended to cause terror in the society," said NIA. "So far, 124 accused have been arrested in DJ Halli PS case and 169 have been held in KG Halli PS case," said NIA.

Ex-Congress Mayor Sampath Raj arrested in Bengaluru riots case
Former Congress mayor R Sampath Raj was wanted in the Bengaluru violence. Raj had escaped from a private hospital on Oct 31 where he got admitted for COVID-19. The Bengaluru riots had left four people dead and 66 cops injured on Aug 11.

NIA arrests key conspirator in connection with attack on Bengaluru P
The NIA arrested a key conspirator for his involvement in the attack on KG Halli Police Station in Bengaluru that took place in the late evening of August 11. The attack resulted in huge damage and destruction of public and government property, including damage to the police station building and vehicles parked. The accused, 44-year-old Sayed Saddiq Ali of Bengaluru, works as a recovery agent with a bank and was absconding since August 11 immediately after the riots.

NIA takes over investigation of Bengaluru riots that took place in August
The large scale violence occurred when over 1000 people gathered in front of the house of Congress MLA Naveen Srinivas Murthy (Pulakeshi Nagar constituency) in Kavalbyrasandra wherein the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act had been invoked by the State Police. The mob was protesting against the derogatory social media (Facebook) post about Prophet Mohammed made on August 11, 2020, around 4 pm by the nephew of the MLA allegedly insulting the religious sentiments of the Muslims. The State Secretary of SDPI, Muzamil Pasha had earlier called a meeting and directed the members of PFI/SDPI to instigate the mob and incite violence after the incident.

Bengaluru violence: CCB arrests PA of former Mayor Sampath Raj
PA Arun Kumar's arrest comes a day after the CCB questioned Sampath Raj, a congress corporator who was mayor of Bengaluru in 2019. As many as 340 people have been so far arrested in connection with the violence.

Bengaluru: Sec 144 to remain in place in DJ Halli, KG Halli areas till Aug 18
The imposition of Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in areas under DJ Halli and KG Halli police station limits has been extended till 6 am on 18th August. Section 144 does not allow the gathering of four or more people at a place. In a related development, Bengaluru Police said on Sunday (August 16) that 35 more accused were arrested in connection with Bengaluru violence that broke out on August 11.

Bengaluru violence: Property worth Rs 50 lakh damaged, alleges Akhanda Murthy
The Minister said that the losses that his family suffered would come to Rs 3 crore. Murthy said that documents pertaining to his property, vehicles were also burnt. Six Godrej almirahs, two computers, two laptops, one telephone, and two television sets were also looted. So far, more than 250 people have been arrested in connection with the case.

Congress MLA Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy on Friday registered a compliant at the DJ Halli police station in Bengaluru in connection to the mob attack on his residence on August 11. Srinivas Murthy blamed 'outside forces' for the attack and said that he was filing the complaint because he wanted to know why he became the target.

145 people reportedly arrested in connection with Bengaluru riots
At least 145 people were reportedly arrested on Wednesday in connection with the riots in Bengaluru. On August 11, three people died in police firing when violent clashes erupted over an alleged derogatory social media post by a Congress leader's relative. Sources said that over 50 people were injured in the violence.

Karnataka Deputy CM slams Congress over Bengaluru riots
Karnataka Deputy CM on Wednesday slammed the Congress over the Bengaluru riots calling the violence a direct fallout of the appeasement politics of Congress. Ashwathnarayan said that the "scale and organized nature of the violence confirm that it was entirely orchestrated by these jihadi elements". At least 145 people were reportedly arrested a day after three people died in police firing when violence erupted in Bengaluru on August 11.
