World number one Novak Djokovic pulled out of an Adelaide exhibition because of a blistered hand on Friday before appearing on court to play a set after all, helping his compatriot Filip Krajinovic beat Jannik Sinner. Daniil Medvedev sees off Dominic Thiem to clinch ATP Finals title
Daniil Medvedev became only the fourth player in ATP history to beat the world`s top three at the same tournament. Medvedev`s peers Alexander Zverev, 23, and Stefanos Tsitsipas, 22, won the last two titles here but neither have gone on to claim a Grand Slam. The 27-year-old Russian's triumph came a year after a chastening three defeats on his debut.

ATP Finals: Thiem reaches decider after nail-biting win over Djokovic
In a semi-final clash of the ATP World Tour Finals, Austria's Dominic Thiem defeated Serbian World no.1 Novak Djokovic 7-5, 6-7(10), 7-6(5). In the match, Djokovic saved four match points in the second set but it ultimately went in vain as Thiem won the deciding set. Dominic Thiem, thus, reached his second consecutive title match of the prestigious tournament.

French Open 2020: Schwartzman beats Thiem to set up clash with Nadal in semis
US open winner Dominic Thiem crashed out of the French Open after losing to 12th seed Argentinian Diego Schwartzman in five sets. While, Rafale Nadal managed to beat a lesser experienced Jannik Sinner 7-6(4), 6-4, 6-1 with the match lasting nearly 3 hours. The second seed and 12-time champion Rafael Nadal will now play Schartzman in the semis.

French Open 2020: Thiem battles past Gaston in five sets to reach quarters
Austrian Dominic Thiem was made to sweat before advancing into the French Open quarter-finals as he ended Frenchman Hugo Gaston`s dream run with a 6-4, 6-4, 5-7, 3-6, 6-3 victory on Sunday (October 4). The third seed, Thiem, who was beaten by clay-court master Rafael Nadal in the final of the last two editions, was clearly frustrated against the 20-year-old Gaston but pulled through at last. Thiem set-up a clash with Argentine 12th seed Diego Schwartzman and remains on course to collide with 12-times champion Nadal in the semi-finals.

Austria`s Dominic Thiem finally claimed his first Grand Slam title with a stunning comeback to beat Germany`s Alexander Zverev 2-6 4-6 6-4 6-3 7-6(6) in US Open final on Sunday. The 27-year-old world number three, beaten in his first three Grand Slam finals, started as favourite but appeared to have blown his golden chance as he fell two sets behind. Thiem, who had dropped only one set en route to the final, looked stifled by nerves early on but gradually broke the shackles to hit back from a break down to take the third.

Tennis will have a new Grand Slam champion for the first time since Marin Cilic beat Kei Nishikori to clinch the US Open title in 2014. Federer and Nadal had both opted out of this year`s tournament, while Djokovic exited in the fourth round after infamously getting disqualified.

Thiem, who has lost in three Grand Slam finals and never claimed a major title, will now face Germany's Alexander Zverev in the final on Sunday. This is Thiem's second straight Grand Slam final of 2020 after having lost to Novak Djokovic in a thrilling five-setter at the final of Australian Open 2020.

Second seed Dominic Thiem dismantled Australian Alex de Minaur 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the U.S. Open. Thiem needed a little over two hours to record the win under the closed roof of Arthur Ashe Stadium despite being put under constant pressure by De Minaur. Dominic Thiem will now meet Russian Daniil Medvedev for a place in his fourth Grand Slam final.
